If acrylic isn't really your thing, and you prefer something with more texture and a more natural feel, then we have a number of different wooden panel options. As with acrylic panels, these can be fixed to the wall, hung from chains or steel cable, and then simply plug into a standard mains plug socket.
Wooden panel backings add warmth, texture and a natural character to your neon sign that acrylic simply cannot replicate. Each wooden panel is unique — particularly with reclaimed wood options where no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
We source our reclaimed wood from local architectural salvage companies, so we don't always have standardised products — it depends on what is available. We typically use pine floorboards, but have also sourced table tops and random pre-made wooden panels from salvage companies. We can offer a range of different coloured wood stains for the reclaimed wood.
Each reclaimed wood backing is unique — no two are ever exactly the same.
If you are looking to match a certain colour of paint so that the backing panel blends in with a wall, we can supply the neon on an MDF panel painted to your specified colour. The panel is left with clean, unframed edges for a minimal finish.
OSB board makes a great option for a neon backing because of the layers of wood strands, which add texture and depth to the overall look of the sign. The natural industrial character of OSB works particularly well with colourful or bold neon designs.
