A typical size of neon sign that would be used in a home or business for decorative or branding purposes, will cost £80 or less per year to run, which is approx 21p per day.
This is based on the sign being turned on for 10 hours per day, and running at 100 Watts. Most of our neon signs run at much less than 100 Watts.
An LED alternative costs just over half this amount to run, but in actual monetary terms this isn't a very big difference.
Neon signs get slightly warm to touch, but not so hot that you would burn yourself if you touch it.
The only time a neon tube might become hot to touch is if it is badly made, or powered by the wrong size transformer.
