Acrylic Panels For Neon Signs
An acrylic panel is simply a single piece of rectangular, square or cut-to-shape acrylic, with clear, satin black, or satin white being the standard colours, although other colours and finishes are available on request. We usually use 10mm thick acrylic to make the panel more robust.
Clients choose this option if they prefer the neon tubes to be exposed, but want to hang or fix to a wall and plug straight into a mains socket — as opposed to requiring any specialist installation. An acrylic panel can be fixed to a wall using aluminium stand offs, suspended from chains or steel cable, or depending on the overall size, can free stand with an appropriate base.
A clear acrylic panel is a great choice if you want to see the wall through the panel — for example if it is brick, a particular paint colour, or decorated with wallpaper you would like to remain visible. Also popular for businesses hanging signs in windows, as it doesn't block light. The transformer is usually fitted onto the back of the panel, but we can discuss options if you would prefer it hidden.
A satin black acrylic panel gives a more retro feel to a neon sign, with the contrast between the neon and the black backing creating a real pop of colour. A great option if you would like the transformer and wiring hidden behind the panel. You can even get a plug socket installed directly behind the panel if you don't want a visible mains lead. Also available in gloss black.
A satin white acrylic panel provides a more contemporary and slightly softer feel. A great option if you would like the transformer and wiring hidden behind the panel. You can even get a plug socket installed directly behind the panel if you don't want a visible mains lead. Also available in gloss white.
Available in clear, satin black, or satin white, we can cut your panel to the shape of the neon design, making the backing more discreet and adding another dimension to the overall look. A particularly popular option when fitting neon onto a flower wall or other artificial foliage.
We are able to provide flat bases for panels, depending on the overall size, for when fitting to the wall or hanging from chain isn't an option. For example, you may wish to stand the panel on a shelf or cabinet — the base gives added security that the panel won't slip.
If you want the added protection of having the neon tubes covered, but still want the transformer and wiring hidden behind a black or white panel, then a sandwich panel is the option to go for. These can be square, rectangular, or cut to shape.
