January 03, 2017 3 min read

When it comes to decorating your home, finding inspiration is key to bringing your interior design ideas to life; whether you already know what look you will be going for throughout your home or not, taking inspiration from new places is important. There are some great ways to find this inspiration, whether this is across Pinterest, in home interior magazines or even from your favourite TV and Film shows, you can take ideas from other places to formulate an ideas board that you can then finalise the design from.

“Enjoy” Neon Creation for domestic clients dining room

Neon has become a hugely popular trend in the past few years; where it was once known as a nostalgic trend that harks back to the ’80s, it is now a staple part of modern design, becoming accepted as a unique form of signage, as well domestic design to allow you to incorporate neon in your home. Read more about the history of neon.

Domestic Neon Signs

At Neon Creations’, we work with a number of domestic clients working to understand how they can bring a design to life in neon art. The way that we work means that our bespoke service could mean your neon artwork could become the focal part of any room in your home, from the bedroom, to living room, kitchen or even bathroom!

Domestic neon signs are becoming a popular part of our day to day life here in the studio, and working with this type of customer is intriguing as many of the signs become artwork, or we can even work to put someone’s name in lights. Creating the perfect present for any occasion.

Take a look at this piece that we recently completed for Abbey Clancey and Peter Crouch. Abbey wanted her favourite George Harrison quote placed in the hallway in their family home, it was designed using her own handwriting to make it even more personal for her.

Positioning Your Neon

This is the most important thing to consider when you are looking at how neon could work in your home; the positioning of it could be the difference between it looking fab and drab. Before you have even decided what kind of neon design you are going for, consider what it will be backed on to. At Neon Creations’, our most popular form of casing is the acrylic as this is the safest way to install a neon sign; however, we work with other materials including mirror boxing, wooden panels, or even directly onto a wall (this will involve specialist installation though!)

You might have noticed a few places offering cheap and cheerful neon signs, and you might wonder what the difference is between those and the ones that we create in our studio. Well, with a Neon Creation, it’s pretty simple – you know where it’s coming from. You can even visit our studio if you want to see where it is all made! We have been in the industry for 20 years, and we know what we’re doing, creating neon artwork that meets and exceeds our clients expectations time and time again. The end product is a quality finish that you know will not have any faults or defects!

It Doesn’t Have To Be a Light!

If you think a neon sign could be a little too much for you, to start you off a little smaller – why not try a few other ways to incorporate neon into your home? Maybe starting with a splash of colour on a wall, or within statement pieces of furniture, or even on a pillow as in the image below. This could present the perfect opportunity for you to find new ways to decorate your home, and by starting small you could work to unlock the potential for more ways to install a bespoke Neon Creation into your home.
