One of the first things you should think about is what you want your neon sign to look like. You can choose almost anything, from funky shapes to your favourite quote from a movie. The colour can make a huge difference to the overall look of your neon sign. There are around 40 colours for you to choose from, so think carefully! You could choose the colour of your neon sign to match or contrast with the existing décor in the room, allowing it to stand out in whichever way you see fit.
Red and orange have often been the most popular and traditional colours over the years, creating a retro look. However, the colour can largely depend on your design and what will look best. Our neon signs are attached to a backing to make it easier to install, while offering that perfect finishing touch. The simplest backing options are acrylic cases or panels, available in white, black or clear. However, you have the opportunity to get creative with your backing, should you wish.
You can choose to add a printed background to your neon sign, with a favourite photograph or logo, which can add a personal touch to the finished sign. Consider where your neon sign is going to be displayed, as this could have an impact on its final design and size. If it’s for your home, is the sign out of reach of children or could be it be easily knocked into? If it’s for your business, it is easily visible for customers and employees?
Your neon sign should be close to a power supply, as it will usually arrive ready to hang (unless you have chosen to have the neon fixed directly to the wall) and be plugged into a mains socket. It’s important that you don’t cover the neon sign or place it in a cluttered location.
