Neon Infinity Box

January25

At Neon Creations, we are continually looking at expanding our product range, and we are now really excited to launch our Neon Infinity Box.

As can be seen, these give the illusion of the neon shape going on and on and on……..

We find that the effect works best when using simple shapes, but it would be possible to customise this to incorporate text.

As with all of our custom made neon signs, there are a wide range of colours available to chose from.

These neon infinity boxes look great mounted directly onto the wall, and make really unique gifts. They would also make a really great feature in a bar or nightclub.

In these examples, the overall size is 500mm x 500mm, but again, can be customised to suit individual requirements.

If you are interested in this neon product, please contact us for more information on 01204 655866, or info@neoncreations.co.uk.

Neon Hire for Suzuki Swift

January25

We recently hired out our ‘Tattoo’ neon sign for use in a viral and poster advert for Suzuki Swift.

We are continually adding to our range of neon signs for hire, and will shortly be adding a page to our website where you can browse through our catalogue.

Neon Christmas Gifts

January25

We have been developing some new product ideas for a while now, and have now produced our first neon mirror box.

This is a totally unique product and would make an ideal gift. It can be personalised with names,  with a favourite quotation, or with an image or logo.

The box is made from mirror finish acrylic, with a neon glow on the wall behind the box.

On this particular example we have used light purple neon, but any colour could be chosen to fit best with the colour of the wall that the mirror box will hang on.

Similarly, the font style and wording used here are just to show an example of the concept of the mirror box. Any font or wording can be chosen, although there would be certain fonts that would work better than others.

The mirror boxes are powered with a low voltage transformer, which means that they can actually be wired into the mains electricity and operated via a light switch, without the need for an external fireman’s switch.

Prices for the mirror boxes start from £290 +VAT, and the price varies according to the complexity of the etching, and the colour of the neon behind the box. This is based on an overall size of 500mm x 400mm x 40mm. Other sizes can be available for an additional cost.

Your Logo in Neon Lights

January25

At Neon Creations, we pride ourselves on being able to transform logos and personal designs into truly unique neon lights.

Many of our customers approach us with their own design ideas or company logos, and ask our advise on making them into a neon sign. We work very closely with our customers and always give our honest opinion as to whether something will look good or not in neon. Please take a look at these examples of the original design that we were sent, and the finished sign:

Because of the nature of how a neon sign is made, there are some limitations as to what can or can’t be achieved and replicated. A neon sign starts its life as straight pieces of glass tubing, and is bent by hand into shape over a hot flame. Because of this, there are limitations on how small the letters or shapes can be made before they start to lose their definition.

As in the Primrose Bakery example below, on the original drawing there are serifs on some of the letters. Unless this sign had been made really big, then it wasn’t possible to make this part of the design. As you can see from the finished sign, we modified the design slightly, but this didn’t detract from the overall look of the sign.

If you have a design or logo that you have been thinking about getting made into a custom made neon sign, we would love to talk to you about it, and help turn your ideas into neon.

Neon Sign for Launch of DJ Hero

January25

One of our latest projects has been the maunfacture of the DJ Hero logo in white neon ready for the launch of the music video game at the end of October.

DJ Hero is a spin-off of the Guitar Hero computer game, and has been developed by FreeStyleGames, and published by Activision, and the sign will be used during launch events and on roadshows.

We made this neon sign on behalf of NJLive, a London based events company, for whom we have already produced a number of bespoke neon signs, including one for the RockBand music video game, XBox 360, and Microsoft XNA.

Neon Sign Hire

January25

Neon Creations are in the midst of developing a new and exciting neon sign hire range, aimed at one-off events and parties where it may not be feasible to buy a custom made neon sign.

We currently have around 20 designs (not all have been manufactured yet), including Happy Birthday, 18th Birthday, 21st Birthday, 30th Birthday, 40th Birthday, Disco, 60′s, 70′s, Happy Christmas, weddings/anniversaries, and Casino.

The neon sign hire range is something that we will always be adding to (subject to demand), so if you have an event and a specific idea for a neon sign that you would like to hire, then if it is something that we feel we would be able to use again, then we would consider adding it to the hire sign range.

If you are interested in neon sign hire, then please contact us on 01204 655866, or email your enquiry to info@neoncreations.co.uk.

We aim to have a new page on our website very soon showing the range of neon signs for hire, and hire prices, so please check back soon.

Our new neon sign hire is something we are very excited about, and we can’t wait to share this with you, as we are using many new exciting colours and vinyl products. Watch this space!

A Brief Introduction to Neon Signs

January25
Neon is undoubtedly the most eye catching form of lighting or signage, and can definitely be used in the most creative ways. It is indeed a form of art, as every single neon design is hand made – starting out as a straight glass tube, and being transformed by the use of a flame, into curves, letters, logos.
Process
The use of neon has truly stood the test of time, with the first neon sign being sold to a Paris barber in 1912. You only need to take a walk down any High Street to see that neon is still going strongly today, and it is not just used in shops, bars and restaurants, but is increasingly used for other applications, with many people buying neon signs and art for use in their homes.

People are sometimes put off using neon as they perceive it to be dangerous. However, although an electric current passes through the glass tubes to light up the gases inside, in recent years, regulations and technology mean that in the unlikely event that a neon sign did break, any power to the sign would immediately cut off, making neon safer than ever to use.

Another misconception is that all neon signs require specialist installation. Whilst this is true of external and some internal neon signs, Neon Creations specialise in the design and manufacture of portable internal neon signs that can be plugged into a normal plug socket. This also means that once a sign has been used at one venue, it can be used again and again, in different locations.

Finally, there is sometimes a perception that neon is expensive. However, when you consider that the lifespan of a typical neon sign is around 10 years, you are actually getting good value for money.

Bespoke Neon Signs for Manchester School of Art

January25

Having worked closely with the Manchester School of Art (part of Manchester Metropolitan University) on a recent exhibition piece, we are now in talks with them to provide workshops/advice on the neon making process, and how this could be incorporated into the work of students who follow the Three Dimensional Design BA (Hons) degree course.

Three Dimensional Design is a studio and workshop based programme, which supports students in a range of craft and design for production practices, including glass blowing and hot glass.

We recently manufactured a neon light in the form of a tree, which was then sandwiched between a glass tree shape, which was produced from traditional and contemporary glass processes, including water jet cutting. A red and blue version of the neon light were made, with the red one eventually being chosen for the final display piece.

We are now liaising with Kirsteen Aubrey, Lecturer on the degree course, and David Crow, Head of Department of Design, as to how we can work closely with them to develop different ways that neon can be used with different materials, and we are looking at organising a series of workshops in which students can come into the glass shop to see how neon lights are manufactured.
