Handle them with care
Real neon signs are made using glass tubes filled with gas, so it’s important you treat them with respect. Many of our neon glass signs are delivered to customers, so make sure you unwrap it carefully to ensure there are no damages or cracks and to ensure everything is still intact. Next, make sure you install it in a safe place or get an experienced electrician to do it for you. If there is a problem with your sign, don’t attempt to fix it yourself, just let us know.
Keep it clean
When your neon sign isn’t kept clean, they eventually lose their sparkle and begin to look dull, rather than enticing. After all, grime and dust will show up a lot when they are located on top of a brightly-lit tube. Just remember that before you start cleaning, you need to unplug your neon sign, or you could be at risk of a shock. To remove any visible dust, you are best to remove the sign from the wall and lay it on a flat surface, before wiping with a dry duster or microfibre cloth.
If you have any stubborn marks on your neon sign that you’re desperate to get rid of, use a damp cloth but make sure everything is dry before you switch your sign back on.
It’s really important to remember that you should never use ammonia on your neon sign.
Don’t unplug your neon sign unnecessarily
You are actually better off leaving your neon sign plugged in at all times unless you are having it repaired or cleaned. This is due to the fact that turning it off and on constantly will put more pressure and wear on the transformer of your neon sign. When left alone, neon signs can last an impressively long time and don’t worry, it isn’t as costly as you probably think to leave your neon sign on!
