Neon vs LED’s and their ‘Green’ issues

October4

A recent article in US industry magazine ‘Signs of the Times’ reports that Neon and Cold cathode lighting have recently given the GREEN tick of approval by the UL ENERGY VERIFIED PROGRAM. Due to efficient energy consumption, increased light output and also the extreme longevity of neon it has been recognised as a viable GREEN light source… but as the attached article states…. energy efficient lighting is being imported from China yet we have been producing a GREEN light source for over 100 years.

Thanks to NP Signs in Brisbaine, Australia, for bringing the article to our attention.

Take a look at this clip to catch a glimpse of one of the neon signs that we made for Little Mix. It features at the very start of the video (don’t blink or you’ll miss it!) for their debut single ‘Wings’.

Mini Neon Signs for Park Lane Showroom

July5

Towards the end of last year, we manufactured 2 neon signs for the Mini Showroom on Park Lane in London.

On a recent trip to London we managed to get some pics of our work actually in place:

Whilst we always take pictures of the signs we produce before they leave our workshop, we think that pictures of the signs in place look much better, so we always like to encourage our customers to send us pictures of their signs in place. If you have any to send us, please email to info@neoncreations.co.uk.

While we were at the showroom we also admired the cars there, particularly the one that was finished in real cow skin!

Neon Art Pieces to Feature on Channel 4′s Sunday Brunch

March22

We were recently commissioned to transform some illustrations into neon art pieces, for Sunday Brunch, which is a new show that starts this Sunday (25th March) on Channel 4.

As we can’t reveal any more pictures or details yet, make sure you tune in at 11:50am, and then let us know your thoughts on it.

Name in Neon Lights!

November23

Ever wanted to see your name in neon lights?

Well, now you can! We have a small range of neon name lamps available to purchase, which can also make a wonderful and unique Christmas gift, or for a birthday, christening, or other special occasion. Or simply use as a night light in a child’s bedroom.

The blue (boys), or pink (girls) neon name stands on a compact black base which houses a low voltage power supply. The low voltage power supply makes it very safe, even around children.

Simply plug the light into the mains to see your name light up!

Approximate size is 30cm wide x 20cm high (this varies slightly depending on the name).

The names that we have available are: Ben, Chris, Daniel, James, and Joseph, and Katie, Lucy and Megan.

Prices are £24 each (inc VAT) and £12 (inc VAT) for delivery via Royal Mail Special Delivery. If you are interested in purchasing one of these neon name lights, please contact us on 01204 655866, or via email to info@neoncreations.co.uk.

Please note that this particular style cannot be personalised, although we do offer personalised neon names within our custom made service. Prices for this tend to start from around £300 +VAT.

Visit BPM to see our neon signs!

September30

This weekend (Saturday 2nd to Monday 4th October) we are pleased to be exhibiting at BPM at the NEC in Birmingham.

BPM is the biggest event in Europe which is dedicated to DJing, electronic music production, and club culture.

We are hoping to entice mobile DJ’s, club DJ’s, club promoters and venue owners with our exciting range of neon products.

As all of our neon signs are custom made, we can manufacture to your required size, specification and design. The signs we produce are easily portable, and are therefore an eye catching addition to a mobile DJ’s lighting set.

We have made some additions to our range of neon for hire, which we will also be showcasing at BPM 2010. Here is a sneak preview below of our Pac Man neon sign, which is great to hire for 80′s themed parties.

If you can come and visit us on Stand D57 this weekend, it would be great to see you.

What to say in neon lights?

July7

If you are thinking of using neon to enhance a particular room at home, or maybe to have in the office reception area, you could choose to have an image or abstract shape as a custom made neon sign, rather than have some words in neon.

We have worked on a number of such projects, and I’m sure you will agree that the results are equally as striking as neon text.

This neon sign below was a logo for a club night – ‘Lets Go Crazy’ – which we made using red neon. The middle of the image was enhanced by using red vinyl, just to add more depth to the neon sign.

This Pink Flamingo below was made for an events company for use at a corporate Christmas party:

The bespoke neon sign below was part of the corporate logo for Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw, which they had manufactured for display in their reception area:

The neon swallow below was commissioned by an artist for display in a gallery:

We have also previously made some clouds in neon that were displayed on a living room wall (sorry we don’t have any pics!), and don’t discount simple shapes, which when combined together in abstract colours, can look really good.
